Earth Day
The Importance of our Planet
What you should know Many people know about carbon footprints and understand that there are certain actions like "...choosing public transport, eating less meat, buying more efficient light bulbs," (Marris) yet companies continue to make a huge impact on the environment. |
Scientific dataAccording to NASA, there has been a significant decline in forests, including the Amazon, which is considered to be "...a major component of the global carbon cycle." It is also found that "...cattle ranching, logging, and agriculture have accelerated in the region..." are the main contributors to the loss of forests. This, along with water pollution and other damage to nature, is why Earth Day is important. |

Some of the examples Hayes gives are "... energy conservation, pesticides, and nuclear power..." |
